Former SAG-AFTRA Exec Leads The TEAM Companies’ Southeastern US Expansion

After three decades as Executive Director of SAG-AFTRA’s Nashville office and a decade as the union’s Assistant National Director for Sound Recordings, Randy Himes hopes to have touring artists, business managers, and record labels singing a different tune in managing the payment of singers, musicians, composers and concert tour crew and support personnel.

Himes recently joined The TEAM Companies, the highly respected payroll provider for the concert tour and sound recording industries, as Vice President of Labor Relations and Director of Business Development in the Southeast region. He is responsible for new business development and account management in one of the music industry’s major hubs, bringing his extensive, in-depth knowledge of the music industry to his new position. “Labor laws, union agreements and generally what it takes to conduct business in the music world have become more and more complicated” said Himes. “I am excited to be able to continue to work with recording artists and their representatives in my new role at TEAM. The TEAM Companies have years of music industry experience as well as tools and processes that simplify hiring and paying singers, musicians, and other folks whether they’re recording an album or out on tour,” he added.

Himes’ background working with performers and his intimate knowledge of the union agreements will serve as a strong touchpoint in his role at The TEAM Companies. During his tenure with the union, Himes served as chief negotiator of SAG-AFTRA’s National Sound Recordings Code, where he was involved in negotiating worldwide streaming provisions as well as updating other aspects of the code to keep pace with the changing music landscape. Himes was also responsible for the creation of many innovative industry agreements, such as the Nashville Songwriter and Publisher’s Demonstration Recording Agreements, as well as the national Music Video, Independent Artist and Touring Agreements and hundreds of specialized industry agreements, including the Armed Forces Radio and Television Agreement and the Artists and Performers Agreement for the world famous Grand Ole Opry.

Himes is a recipient of the Outstanding Alumni Award from the Department of Recording Industry from his Alma Mater, Middle Tennessee State University, as well as a recipient of the President’s Choice Award from the Nashville Songwriters Association International. Himes also served on the Board of the Nashville Chamber/Music Association Task Force and was appointed to serve as a board member and advisor to the Tennessee State Film, Entertainment and Music Commission.

Himes plans to leverage The TEAM Companies’ success in the pop music arena to expand further into other music genres. His in-depth knowledge of all SAG-AFTRA performer agreements and long standing relationships in the Nashville and national music communities amplify the level of trust and experience music and tours clients have come to expect from TTC.
