The Payroll Clerk is an administrative position that is responsible for maintaining filing of client and employee information, assisting with payroll invoicing, and following-up internally and with clients on key project related information. This is an entry level position that requires analytical thinking and problem-solving skills, an aptitude for numbers, multi-tasking and quality client service skills. The ideal candidate is a “self-starter” with initiative and a pro-active approach to tasks, responsibilities and working with colleagues, the ability and willingness to learn new skills and tasks. Discretion in handling company and client information is required, along with professional ethics, appearance and conduct.

Duties & Tasks

  • Maintain digital and physical filing systems of key client and employee information
  • Data entry
  • Assist with, and distribution of invoices
  • Provide support for office operations and general client service needs as directed
  • Assist with performing checks of the payroll system
  • Perform additional or special tasks or projects as requested
  • Assist with support for inquiries as needed
  • Attend trainings as instructed and learn payroll billing including wage and hour law and entertainment industry union contracts and applicable rules for payroll

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Basic office skills and abilities, knowledge of standard office equipment and software including Outlook, Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat, PowerPoint, and ability and willingness to learn new and/or proprietary applications as required
  • Interact with colleagues, team members and other department staff as well as management and executives in a professional office setting
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
  • Knowledge of government and entertainment industry requirements for payroll
  • Organizational skills
  • Attention to detail and analytical skills
  • Flexibility and ability to multi-task
  • Ability to work well under pressure

Credentials, Experience & Education

  • Minimum education requirement: High School Graduate
  • Minimum two years of college preferred
